Mark Golden
Mark Golden is an Emmy Award–winning former producer, writer, and director for ABC Network News, 20/20, and Special Projects. A professor of Broadcast Journalism at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus. Mark has also been a New York City billiard champion, and a nightclub singer, experiences that reflect his lifelong curiosity about performance, precision, and play. Especially play!
Currently, he teaches poker to K–10th grade students from many of New York’s top schools — including Hunter, Stuyvesant, Avenues, Spence, Chapin, Nightingale, and The Heschel School — as well as to adult groups such as the Bridgehampton Women’s Club and The New York Media Moguls Women’s Group. Mark Golden holds a BA and two MAs in religion, philosophy, education, and curriculum.
Across his careers, he has explored how chance, structure, and storytelling shape human experience — themes that now animate his visual art.
Artist Statement
My work combines collage, assemblage, and installation to create visually playful and intellectually charged compositions. I think of them as “idea-o-grams” — layered images that challenge viewers to find meaning in juxtaposition, irony, and humor. Often provocative and always exploratory, the work invites both a smile and a question mark: a reflection on how culture, chance, and imagination interlock to form what we call truth.
