Christina Schlesinger

Christina Schlesinger is an artist and teacher who lives and works in Manhattan and East Hampton. She taught for many years at The Ross School and is currently a curricular consultant there. In January, she had an exhibition, “All True Tomboys”, at the Leslie + Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York City. One of her Tomboy paintings will appear this summer in the Lavender Review, an on-line lesbian magazine, and another will be featured as “Miss July” in the Ms. Magazine blog “girlie calendar”.

Christina has always had a fascination with and love of birds. When she was recovering from all illness she happened upon her Golden Book of Birds while convalescing. This led to a series of bird portraits. “Painting the birds helped me get well”, the artist said. “Their spirit made me strong again.”
