I have been drawing since I can remember. I have no formal training other than that of some truly inspirational high school teachers and my mother who was a member of many local art leagues. I started painting in acrylic when my children were small but I have now transitioned into oils.
My process is simple; my inspiration comes from the East End of Long Island. The East End is full of light and magnificent, untouched areas. I spend my summers outdoors looking at everything through an artist’s eye constantly taking pictures to bring back to my studio to paint. My photographs are my sketches, I immerse myself in one and translate its beauty onto the canvas perhaps embellishing here and there.
I am a 5 time cover artist for the East End’s “Dan’s Paper”. My latest cover, this August, was created specifically for them for their event, Harvest East End part of the Taste of Two Forks. In 2011, I won the “Best of the Best Cover” for my painting “got butter?”
I have recently been nominated for “Best Artist on Long Island” by the Long Island Press.
